Madeline "Maddy" Cloutier was born on the 4th of March, 2001. Growing up in an environment where her interests and hobbies were extensively encouraged as well as explored, her creativity naturally blossomed (thank you, Mom and Dad!).
From an early age, she thrived in a world of colors and imagination. She spent her childhood drawing pictures for her parents and crafting outfits from fabric scraps for her stuffed animals.
When she learned to write and piece together sentences, she discovered she had a lot to say. She filled notebook after notebook with her thoughts, ideas, and doodles.
In high school, she picked up a DSLR for the first time, only to put it down moments later, confused by terms like "aperture" and "f-stop". In her typical fashion, she turned confusion into curiosity. After reading the user manual cover to cover, she dove into photography with newfound confidence and hasn’t looked back since.
One thing led to another, and in college, a friend offered her the chance to step into the role of Photography Lead for the first publication of a new student-run fashion and lifestyle magazine. The experience was a whirlwind: so fun, and so rewarding.
Now a UMN graduate, Maddy finds herself wondering what’s next for her. Will she continue pursuing photography, delve further into writing, explore art direction, or venture into creative direction down the road? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for certain — she will keep creating!
